The EU-Brazil Business Summit is organized in parallel to annual EU-Brazil Political Summit. The EU-Brazil Business Summit creates new business opportunities through dialogue between Brazilian and European business leaders. The Summit is also an excellent opportunity to present new initiatives to improve the cross-border business environment and to further encourage trade and investments between the EU and Brazil. The fourth EU-Brazil Business Summit took place in July 2010 in Brasilia, Brazil. The upcoming fifth Summit will take place in Brussels, Belgium on 4 October 2011.
The organizers of the Business Summit are BUSINESSEUROPE, the National Confederation of Industry - Brazil (CNI), The Federation of Enterprises in Belgium (VBO-FEB) and EUROCHAMBRES. The Business Summit develops recommendations that are addressed to the heads of state of the EU and Brazil - the President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and the Brazillian President Dilma Rousseff - who will participate in the Business Summit.
The strategic partnership between the EU and Brazil is becoming ever more important. Brazil is Europe's largest partner in South America and the opportunities for growth abound. Europe is one of Brazil’s largest trading and investment partners and Brazilian trade with the EU is growing. Business leaders from Brazil and the EU need to support their political leaders to create a dynamic business partnership and to strengthen economic cooperation between the two economies. The Business summit will discuss how to boost trade and investment through the Mercosur free trade agreement, how to increase investments in energy and infrastructure and how to foster innovation.
